White Mountain Regional Medical Center is a small, rural 21-bed hospital in eastern Arizona. It is extremely rural and isolated -- over three hours from a major city!
It’s challenging to recruit top talent to such a remote place -- particularly in the competitive healthcare industry. WRMC had a Pharmacy Director role open for months -- it was difficult to find any candidates, let alone someone qualified for the role. Due to the small department size, they needed a talented director who still retained many of the responsibilities of a staff pharmacist.
The Hospital had tried the usual passive methods to source candidates, but advertisements didn’t help. By the time they came to GHS for assistance, they had already tried using contingency recruiters with no luck.
The hospital signed a retained agreement for GHS to work as the exclusive firm to fill the DOP role. Entering into a retained/exclusive agreement allowed us to put all of our time and effort into the challenging search, and we put three recruiters on the job immediately.
With a full team of recruiters, GHS blanketed every Director of Pharmacy in the southwestern US working in a hospital under 100 beds with calls, emails, texts, and mailers. The campaign was amazingly successful, and GHS sourced four viable candidates. After an in-depth interview process, a DOP was hired and started within 90 days from the date GHS was retained on the search.
